Automotive critics have plenty of positive things to say about how this electric truck performs and about the two new trim levels. If you want to explore roads less traveled outside Goochland, the AT4 is worth a test drive:
“I was expecting the Sierra EV to handle poorly, given its sheer size and weight, but the reality is that it’s rather refined for a truck. The suspension reins in most body motions, giving the pickup a stable and composed feel, while still absorbing the impacts from rough roads. Its four-wheel steering dramatically shortens the turning radius, making it fairly easy to maneuver this truck through parking lots and tight streets. The regenerative braking system is well-mannered and can slow the truck to a stop when you lift off the throttle or pull the Regen On Demand paddle (located on the left of the steering wheel).”
“The Sierra EV lineup expands to add two new trims for 2026. A new AT4 model brings an off-road attitude, with beefy 35-inch all-terrain tires and lifted suspension that provides two additional inches of ground clearance over the other trims. It also comes standard with the Hummer EV’s four-wheel steering “CrabWalk” feature that allows it to maneuver diagonally in tight spaces. The AT4 is joined by a new Elevation trim, which is the least-expensive model in the lineup. A new smaller Standard Range battery configuration is now available for Elevation and Denali trims, and four new exterior color options add some flavor to the Sierra EV roster.”
“There’s no denying the power and range of the 2026 GMC Sierra EV AT4, but some of that powerful feeling might be absorbed by the soft suspension. Foot to the floor from a dead stop in Max Power mode just doesn’t feel all that exciting save the amount of torque steer you’re likely to experience. But you will be hurtling a nearly 9,000-pound truck to 60 mph in just 4.3 seconds, so it’s no slouch all things considered. Suffice it to say, you won’t have any issues merging or passing that vehicle camping in the left lane.”
